Bettor catches machine malfunction with iPhone at Saratoga Casino

SARATOGA?SPRINGS?-?Saratoga Casino and Raceway has become wildly popular for those looking for a little bit a luck.

Thousands upon thousands of visitors play the video lottery terminals here every year. Including Cyndie Wade-Wood of Lake George.

In the past few months, she noticed what appeared to be the slot machine mysteriously and randomly taking 50-dollars from her total.

"I called over an attendant and they shut down the game and opened it up and she went line by line. 'No, you see you got these points, you got those points. The computer says'" said Wade-Wood.

"I have to accept it and move on. How could I possibly prove it?"

She says a month or so later it happened again. And this time, her friend witnessed it.

"Watching the bonus round and all of the sudden, 40-dollars is gone from the bonus round. Okay, it happened again," said Bob Noah.

Because she figured the attendants wouldn't believe her, Wade-Wood pulled out her phone in hopes of catching the machine in the act. She can?be heard on the tape as her account?suddenly drops from 54.80 to 35.20. "See, I think I got it on video that time."

But the maximum bet on the machine is only two dollars.

A few days later, she brought the video to management of the Casino and Raceway who she says at first scolded her for videotaping.

Then they offered this explanation. "I was told that they do do that but they eventually correct themselves."

For her inconvenience, they gave her some free play on a machine and when she was betting with their money, it appears to happen again and Wade-Wood?videotaped it and she can?be heard saying,?"Did you see that? Are you kidding me? It just did it again!"?.

It suddenly dropped 16 dollars.

"So that's the second time, so if I can document three or four times that this happened over a four or five month period, how many other people is this happening to?"

Wade-Wood doesn't buy it that the machines correct themselves. She says she worries about those who doesn't notice, especially seniors who are frequent visitors to the casino.

"I believe in my heart that I'm not the only person this has happened to. That's why I'm coming forward today," said Wood. "I know a lot of seniors play and they're on fixed incomes and if something like this is happening, they might not be noticing."

A representative of the Casino and Raceway declined?NewsChannel?13's request for an on-camera?interview, but said by phone,?"We investigated in cooperation with the machine manufacturer and the NYS lottery and corrected the issue The machine was taken out of service."

The?NYS?Lottery provided this?response:?"The machine showed too high of a figure and then corrected itself. This game has been in service since 2006, and we have not had any complaints before about it."

But Wade-Wood maintains the malfunctions occurred on three separate machines.
