Will Daniel Radcliffe Be Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling's New 'Fantastic Beasts'?

This story first appeared in the Oct. 18 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

Daniel Radcliffe -- whose career reinvention continues with Kill Your Darlings, opening Oct. 16 -- tells THR he isn't against making an appearance as Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling's recently announced adaptation of her wizarding-world book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, even if he did first hear the news of the project from a reporter, not Warner Bros.

Although Radcliffe says "I don't think I'm going to be coming back" and notes "we can't be doing these characters when we're 40, so there has to be a line drawn," he doesn't rule out appearing in the follow-up franchise "because I never know what Jo [Rowling] is going to write, but at the moment I'm in the same position that everyone else is in -- waiting to hear what information is coming out because I don't know anything about these new films."

Since Rowling's book is set before the birth of the three main Potter characters, Radcliffe theorizes he could only return if "time travel rears its head again. I'll be intrigued to see what she does."
