Obama administration to announce healthcare job push (Reuters)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? The Obama administration will announce a $1 billion program on Monday to support healthcare innovation to lower costs and boost the training and deployment of workers, a White House official said.

The move is the latest in a string of executive actions by the administration to work around a divided Congress to spur hiring. Republican lawmakers have held up passage of most of a $447 billion jobs bill Democrat Obama proposed in September.

Republicans dislike Obama's plan because it is funded by raising taxes on millionaires. So far, only two modest proposals in the package have been approved by the Senate with Republican support.

Republicans in the House of Representatives have meanwhile passed a number of measures that they say will boost jobs, but these have yet to be taken up by the Democratic-controlled Senate.
