'General Hospital' Star Steve Burton Joining 'The Young And The Restless' (REPORT)

Steve Burton might not be done with daytime after all. According to TV Guide Magazine, the "General Hospital" veteran -- who recently concluded his storyline as hitman Jason Morgan -- has just booked a major role on "The Young and the Restless."

Sources tell TVGM that Burton will join the cast of the CBS soap soon, with details of his role yet to be revealed. If true, the gig will see Burton reunited with "GH" executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, who left the ABC soap in January 2012 and joined "Y&R" in July.

Burton quit "GH" in August after more than two decades on the soap, telling TV Guide, "I've been through 21 years of ups and downs with 'GH' -- regime changes, cast and crew changes, budget cuts, shakeups of one kind or another, and it's been nothing but a huge positive in my life and for my family. I have no complaints, no negative feelings at all. But it's time to go."

Daytime Confidential speculates that Burton will play Dylan, Avery's (Jessica Collins) "mysterious" ex on "Y&R," while TV Line reports that the actor will begin taping after the holiday break to debut during February sweeps. CBS has yet to confirm the news.
