Former welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao?s adviser and friend Michael Koncz revealed that Pacquiao camp is ready for a fight against Floyd Mayweather jr. According to Koncz, Manny Pacquiao will fight Floyd Mayweather any given day.
?As you know, we're willing and able to fight Floyd anytime he wants, but I don't believe he is ready,? said Koncz when asked about the Mayweather fight.
?Floyd just got out of (county jail). He's spending time with his family. He's enjoying his freedom. He has money left over from the last fight after being in jail for two months. I don't see Floyd going into the ring until next year, but who knows? I have no confirmation of his schedule. I'm just glad he's out of jail. I wish him all the luck in the world and so does Manny, but I don't see Floyd fighting before us this year.?
During the media session, Koncz also spoke of Manny Pacquiao?s fight schedule, revealing that the Filipino will be fighting in December instead of November 10. According to Koncz, Pacquiao will be participating in the congressional elections, which will start by October. Therefore, he added, Pacquiao will be taking some time off from the sport to prepare for the elections.
As of now, Manny Pacquiao?s opponent has not been decided. Bob Arum of Top Rank wants Pacquiao to lock horns with Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico, as he believes it will be a blockbuster show. However, Pacquiao is keener on going for a rematch against American unbeaten fighter and the now WBO welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley.
Pacquiao lost his WBO title to Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas via controversial split decision. Since then, Pacquiao is on the mission to get his title back. He has even promised his fans of bringing the title back home.
Pacquiao?s loss came as a shock to most boxing fans and analysts. Most of them rated the fight in Pacquiao?s favour and called it a ?robbery? for the Filipino fighter. Now, Pacquiao is looking forward to get his hands on Bradley once again to prove his mettle.
