Sunday December 2, Olmsted Theatre. Fall Dance Adelphi presents "Acts of Light".The Department of Dance presents an evening of dance featuring the ?Helios? section iconic choreographer Martha Graham?s Acts of Light. The evening will also feature new works from faculty members Frank Augustyn and Orion Duckstein plus Amy Marshall?s re-staging of her work Riding The Purple Twilight.

FACULTY AND STUDENT NEWS

Melanie E L Bush (Anthropology/Sociology) presented "Crafting Citizenship: Interrogating the 'American-ness' of the American Dream" on a Council for Anthropology and Education panel entitled "Teaching Borders and Boundaries: Anthropological Investigations into Citizenship Education." at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association on November 15, 2012, in San Francisco.

Mark Grabowski's paper, "Regulating the Web through Common Carriage," was selected for presentation at the Southern States Communication Association's 2013 convention in Louisville, KY.

Mark Grabowski's law journal article "Are Technical Difficulties at the Supreme court Causing a 'Disregard of Duty'?" was translated into Romanian and republished this month in The Romanian Judges' Forum Review.

Jessie Klein was invited to speak on her new book The Bully Society at the following places: SUNY/Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY (October 15); Mid-Manhattan Public Library (October 17), where her talk was titled "?Helping schools transform their bully societies into compassionate communities"; New York Association of Independent Schools, Buffalo (October 29); New York Anti-Defamation League (November 28); Wonderplay Early Childhood Learning Conference at the 92nd Street Y (November 16) where her talk was titled ?Building Community to Prevent Hurtful Behaviors and Attitudes,?; she gave 3 panels at Hampshire college for the Five College Valley in Amherst MA (November 30)

Katie Laatikainen's co-edited volume (with Knud Erik Joergensen, Aarhus University, Denmark), The European Union and International Institutions: Performance, Policy, Power has just appeared in print. This 33 chapter handbook is part of the Routledge Handbook series.? In addition to the co-authored introduction, she has also contributed a solo-authored chapter entitled "EU Multilateralism in a Multipolar World."

Cindy Maguire has been invited to participate in the Objective Mediterraneo - Italy, Turkey, Kosova, Albania - Dialogue Between Cultures Art Colony in Istanbul, Turkey. Along with some collaborative art making and presenting a paper, she'll be enjoying turkish coffee and raki with fellow artists from around the world.

Courtney Weida (Art Education) is currently participating in an art exhibition: "Grand Harvest Group Exhibition". Juried group exhibition centered around the concept of harvest. Williamsburg Art and Historical Center. October 2012.?
